As part of the construction of the new Arouca Health Park, ALMOVI collaborated with Costa & Carreira in the installation of the building's glazed elements, providing a solution consisting of a mini crane and a specialised glass vacuum lifter.

The intervention involved the handling and installation of large glass panels integrated into different areas of the structure.

 

Challenge

Glass installation on construction sites always requires high levels of precision, particularly when dealing with large components and limited access conditions.

In this project, the main challenge, in addition to the restricted operating space, was the need to install a large number of glass panels within demanding deadlines.

The glass elements handled measured over 2 metres in size, requiring a solution capable of ensuring stability, control and safety throughout every stage of the installation process.

 

Solution

To meet the project requirements, ALMOVI deployed the smallest mini crane in its fleet, together with a 6-pad glass vacuum lifter. The choice of this equipment was crucial due to its compact dimensions, allowing operations in confined spaces without compromising lifting capacity.

Despite its compact size, the mini crane made it possible to install glass panels in areas located up to the second floor of the structure, while ensuring the stability required to handle large-format elements.

The use of the vacuum lifter further enhanced operational safety and ensured extremely precise positioning of the panels.

According to the initial schedule, this phase of the project could have extended to approximately two weeks. However, the implemented solution enabled the work to be completed in a significantly shorter timeframe: just one week. The combination of the mini crane and the vacuum lifter substantially increased productivity, reducing the overall installation time.

The solution enabled the glazed elements to be installed safely, accurately and efficiently, despite the space constraints and technical demands of the project.

The combination of ALMOVI equipment proved to be an effective solution for the handling and installation of large glass panels, ensuring high-quality execution and operational reliability throughout the project.
